Recently there’s been an issue regarding playing some of the available content in Call of Duty’s most recent game, Modern Warfare. PS4 users are getting a message telling them to reboot content such as Multiplayer and Campaign, before they can play. But this doesn’t do anything and they end up in a continuous loop of having to ‘reboot to play’ and can never actually play.
This actually happened to myself too. I just upgraded my PS4’s original hard drive to a brand new, solid stated drive, for a bit of extra speed and space. After doing so, I reinstalled Modern Warfare and something seems to have gone wrong along the way.

Regardless of the cause, I’ve come across a fix for this. Thanks to Negrizzy153, they posted the solution on Reddit and it worked for me. Basically all you have to do is a simple process called ‘rebuild your PS4 database’. It’s fairly straight forward, here’s all the steps to do it:

- Turn off your PS4
- Hold in the power button until your hear the second beep, that will launch your PS4 in safe mode.
- Scroll down the list to ‘Rebuild Database’ and select this option.
Is Rebuilding Database on PS4 Safe to do?
As far as I know it is safe to do. From what I gather, it’s similar to doing a disk defragment on your computer. It just reorganizes the data on your drive, making it run more efficient. Some say this will make an old PS4 hard drive run faster.
I did it on mine and I wasn’t worried to do so and I ran into no issues either. And it fixed my issue regarding Multiplayer on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. So I say go for it. I hope this solves the issue for you and you’re back online fighting foes in no time!
