Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 Remastered Announcement

Great news came to the gaming world yesterday, Activision announced a Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 remastered game is on the horizon. Scheduled for September 4th, the game will be available on PS4, XBOX and PC via the Epic Games Store. So it won’t be too long until we’re all reliving those great skateboarding memories!

Still published by Activision, the game has been developed by Vicarious Visions, a studio that brought us the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. They also have a longstanding relationship with past games in the series. The announcement dropped yesterday with a brand new video trailer, giving us a sneak peak into the new game. Here’s what to expect:

  • One epic collection of the two games
  • Up to 4k resolution (PS4 Pro, XBOX One X and supporting PCs)
  • Insane tricks & combos
  • Legendary skaters and classic locations
  • Unforgettable Soundtrack
  • Original Modes & Online Multiplayer

You can check out the trailer right here if you like:

The Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2 remastered game will supposedly make you feel the nostalgia of the original games, but feel fresh and modern with updated graphics and new challenges and game modes.

Original Modes & Multiplayer

You can expect to see all the original game modes and multiplayer options. plus some new ones. So get ready to player some Trick Attack with online friends.

Legendary Skaters & Classic Locations

A full roster of all the legendary skaters from the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games will be there. They’ll also have their own signature tricks. And you’ll be able to play in all of the classic locations. School 2 anyone? Can’t wait to hit that.

There’s been no mention of any secret characters yet. In the original game you could play as Spider-Man. But due to licensing, that may not be an option anymore. So we’ll have to wait and see if any new or returning ones are introduced into the game.

Original Sound Track

Although not all the original tracks will be in the new re-master. Most of them will be. As reported by IGN, when speaking to Jen Oneal, Vicarious Visions Studio Head, she said:

“Most of the songs made it into the game. There’s only a small handful that we just couldn’t get the licensing rights for. It’s a pretty full soundtrack and you’ll get to hear your favourites, like “Guerrilla Radio” is in there, “Superman”, which is kind of like the anthem of THPS, is in there.”

The sound track was such a major part of the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games, so this is good news for fans. Guerrilla Radio’s in there and I saw Papa Roach mentioned in the trailer, so I’m happy!

Create-A-Park & Create-A-Skater

This is probably one of the most exciting parts of the news for me. Create-A-Park & Create-A-Skater will be returning. Activision noted on their blog:

“Rather carve up your own park with a skater you created? Create-A-Skater and Create-A-Park are back with some dope new features added in. Create-A-Park will feature a robust editing suite, enabling an incredible level of customization to create the skate park of your wildest imaginations. These parks can be shared online with friends. After you create a park, why not create yourself – or a friend… or one gnarly looking poser – in Create-A-Skater? With plenty of customization options, including some that feature iconic skating and street brands, you’ll be able to express a crazy amount of creativity just in your custom skater alone.”

That sounds pretty amazing to me. Who else had many hours of fun creating their own skate parks? I look forward to diving back into it.

Pre-Order Info

The game is up for pre-order on the Epic Game Store and Microsoft’s website, although listed as coming soon on PlayStation Store

As also stated on the Activision blog, pre-ordering a digital copy can give you access to the Warehouse Demo. Although that is subject to availability and change, and also hasn’t been released yet. Ordering a physical copy can get you a Tony Hawk mini fingerboard. And the Collectors Edition comes with a limited edition Birdhouse real skateboard deck. Apparently it is fully skate-able, but it’s not recommended as it features a printed autograph from Tony Hawk!
